We are back!

Since our last blog entry, now almost three months ago, many things have happened, personally as well as professionally. During this hot weather and holidays (for some) we have been thinking a lot about our blog and about the possibility of continuing with it. We had a plenty of reasons for leaving it and only a few to continue and if I have to be honest, the first ones were stronger than the second ones.

However, during this summer break a person that I deeply respect told me something like this: “If you abandon the blog definitely, you will be betraying the spirit you were standing for, that is, it is not the destination that counts, but the journey”. And he was right.

From these pages we try to express a very specific message. It does not matter if you reach your goal or not, because the failures are part of the learning process and it is the effort and the self-improvement capability what makes the difference between them. In this sense, finishing definitively the blog would mean to surrender, as we did not reach the goal we set. And this, from our conception of live and the daily work was unacceptable. And in fact it really is.

For this reason, we will continue talking about those little things in which almost no one believes, but which are important to some of us, because they represent a different vision of this monochrome world without shades in which we all live in. With our thoughts we will try to make you smile and above all we will try to help, with sincere humility, those engineers who come after us to better understand the daily life in their companies, so that when it’s time to make key decisions in the development of their professional life, they may have some additional data that enables them to judge from a clearer position what they will have to face if they choose one path or another.

We keep trying to be a forum, that if not for debate at least to interchange ideas and opinions about the “black nail” engineering and about the future that awaits those who join something so rancid and so away from the glamour of the high tech companies or the college campus.

In case anyone doubted it, we will keep on using the irony and the acidity as our best weapons, but, of course, respecting always those who do not share our ideas and approaches, as this respect is the basis for coexistence (and this is very necessary). Additionally, Truth is a bird that does not nest in a single tree.

Since we loved the “retro” style of our blog, we have decided to keep it as it was. Therefore we will begin from the next post a new classification related to the aeronautic world. We will start choosing the 10 strangest designs of aviation history, followed by the 10 worst and at the end we will continue with the top ten. Later, we will see…

Obviously this ranking will be completely subjective and there is no reason to support it, but as we are open to your comments, suggestions are welcome.

The ranking of the 10 most strange and 10 worst aircrafts of history has to fulfill at least one condition, the airplanes must have flown at least once without crashing (and this limits a lot the number of candidates).

Please note that “strange” does not mean bad, as there have been very unusual aircrafts that had a long operating life. However there could also be some airplanes that meet both criteria and in this case they would be included in the ranking of the “worst”.

From now on, due to workload, we will publish only two blog entries on a monthly basis instead of the four that we did before. This will let us take a breath and have more time to choose the topics we will discuss.

So, here you will find us, because “life starts again”.

A thought:
Honesty and Integrity, like the good actions, cannot be left unpunished because they are the acid that corrodes the firmest pillars of any organization.

See you

Be brave!
